Agent for cleaning heads and nozzles of ink-jet printers or electronically controlled, automatic writing or printing appts., which use ink-jet systems (esp. "drop-on-demand" systems) for formation of script or pictures, in which the main mixing components of the cleaning agent correspond to the base mixt. of the ink used in the relevant printing system, is new. The cleaning fluid is contained in a cleaning cartridge which may be attached to the print head for cleaning purposes. The cleaning fluid is pressed or sucked through the ink channels and the nozzles. Paper may be run through the printer in order to absorb the cleaning fluid.
