The controller has a position drive. This stands with an intermediate toothed wheel in operative connection with a toothed drive wheel (36) of an electric potentiometer. The intermediate wheel (30) has inner and outer teeth (33,35). The drive wheel (36) is arranged such that it can be brought into engagement with the inner teeth (33) by a position drive (20) with a drive unit formed of a rotary drive (21) and can be brought into engagement with the outer teeth (35) by a position drive (2) with a drive unit formed by a lever drive (3,4). The partial circles of the inner and outer teeth (33,35) relative to that of the drive wheel (36) are dimensioned such that both with a position drive with a lever drive (3,4) and a position drive with a rotary drive (21), an optimal utilisation of the resistive path of the potentiometer (53) is made.
