A rotary engine has a driving shaft (12) and a driving rotor (1) secured in rotation to the driving shaft (12). The driving rotor (1) has one or several outwardly open rotor chambers (10) distributed around its periphery and having each several inclined pressure application walls (8) that act as a kind of driving blade to convert the explosion pressure into a rotary motion of the rotor. A stator (3) surrounds the driving motor (1) and contains at least one explosion chamber (5) inwardly open towards the driving rotor and provided with an outlet (7) past which the rotor chambers (10) move with at least two pressure application walls (9) at the same time. An electric ignition plug (37) is arranged in each explosion chamber (5) and at least one valvecontrolled mixture inlet or a valve-controlled air inlet and a valvecontrolled fuel inlet open into the explosion chamber (5).
