<p>A brain edema inhibitor which comprises as the active ingredient an endothelin antagonist, for example, a compound represented by general formula (I), pharmaceutically acceptable salts or hydrates thereof, bosentan, cyclo[D-aspartyl-L-[3-(4-phenylpiperazin-1-ylcarbonyl)]-alanyl-L-aspartyl-D-[2-(2-thienyl)]glycyl-L-leucyl-D-tryptophyl] disodium or cyclo[D-Asp-L-Pro-D-Val-L-Leu-D-Trp]. A method for treating or preventing brain edemas by administering an endothelin antagonist in an effective dose and use of an endothelin antagonist in the production of a medicine for treating or preventing brain edemas. An endothelin antagonist exhibits an inhibitory effect on all brain edemas regardless of the onset mechanism and thus is highly efficacious in the treatment or prevention of brain edemas.</p> |
