A description is given of a bolt actuating device which can be controlled by a switching device of a break-in alarm system. The actuator has a direct-current electric motor with left-hand/right-hand rotation, it being possible to control the direction of rotation of said electric motor by polarity changeover. The bolt is directed transversely with respect to the motor shaft. The rotation of the motor is converted into a longitudinal movement via a gear mechanism. Said longitudinal movement is transferred to the bolt via a flexible shaft or via a toggle lever.
