<p>A purified and isolated DNA sequence and the encoded mammary-specific protein, mammaglobin, are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for the detecting breast cancer based upon the overexpression and secretion of mammaglobin by breast cancer cells. The methods detect and/or quantitate the presence of mammaglobin or the mRNA encoding mammaglobin.</p> |
