Warhead for combating seas mines

Sea mines are countered by a warhead with two shaped charges (24) in a housing (12), detonated by a firing device (20) in a direction determined by the shape of the end faces (20) of the charges, producing a cone-shaped region (42) of high pressure from the two interpenetrating shock waves (40). The faces of the two charges are pref. convex or concave in shape in a first plane and are convex in a plane perpendicular to the first plane, being symmetrically formed about a plane of symmetry (36). The faces pref. define a space (30) which is filled with a medium (32) which has a shock wave impedance corresp. to that of water.
