Light-coloured, low-viscosity alkyl oligoglycosides are obtainable if mixtures of (a) long-chain alkyl oligoglucosides of the formula (I) R<1>O-[G]p, in which R<1> is an alkyl radical with 16 to 22 carbon atoms, G is a sugar radical with 5 or 6 carbon atoms and p is a number from 1 to 10, and (b) short-chained alkyl oligoglucosides of the formula (II) R<2>O-[G]p, in which R<2> is an alkyl radical with 8 to 14 carbon atoms, G is a sugar radical with 5 or 6 carbon atoms and p is a number between 1 and 10, are bleached with peroxide compounds at a pH in the region of 8 to 13. |
