A rib (38) round the grip-in sector (26) engages a recess (52) on the inside wall (50) of the container (12) as fitted with a first sealing surface (36) in area (4l) to contact the second sealing surface (45) of sector (26). Relative to the centre axis, the radius of the first surface (36) exceeds that of surface (45) to protect the interior of the container against dust, moisture, light etc. An open part of the rib surround (38) allows air to escape from the inside of the container. Rib (38) and wall recess (52) lie below the sealing surfaces (36,45) when the container is stood upright, the container being of elliptical or circular section. As the recess (52) is wider than the rib (38), the cover (14) is releasably connected to the specifically re-usable container.
