The heat insulating layer (3) and/or supplementary thermally loaded parts of the appliance are fitted with or made of a fibre-free insulating material as also are discrete chambers (15,18) between oven chamber (16) and outer housing (8) of the appliance. The spent air duct (15) working with the cooling air blower (27) is made of fibre-free insulation. The housing (18) taking the electric or electronic components may be made of fibre-free insulation material. The inside of oven door (2) is also made of fibre-free insulation material and the outside of the main housing (8) is fitted in part with the fibre-free material (19). The appliance is fitted into a furniture recess and the adjoining furniture surfaces are also furnished with the insulating material (19). The material preferably consists of spaced sheets of radiation-inhibiting film or foil or again shape-retaining blocks of foam.
