The invention concerns oxidized aluminium or aluminium alloy pigments containing not more than 90 wt.% metallic aluminium relative to the total weight. The pigments are coloured, flaked, shiny and not agglomerated. The invention also concerns a process for their production, and their use as effect-imparting pigments and as base pigments for subsequent colouring using organic or inorganic colour pigments.
