Proposed is a drive-away blocking device with a locking control unit and a motor control unit, wherein the drive-away blocking device is operational only when the motor control unit has received from the locking control unit an encoded release signal that matches a preset reference code. The motor control unit (10) has storage means (13) into which a reference code can be written. Upon receiving a release code (V-code) the unit checks whether there is a reference code in the storage means (13). If there is a reference code matching the release code the motor control unit (10) becomes operational. If a reference code is not present, the unit takes the release code (V-code) into the storage means (13) as reference code.
