Surgical instrument for performing gonadectomy in domestic and wild avian species. The instrument is in the shape of a pipe, with a bowl and a handle; the bowl is of cylindrical section with two channels separated by an angle of 120 degree between themselves and the axis of the handle; the cylindrical handle ends in a sharp hook or in a cylindrical shape. It can be made with any of the surgical materials in use, such as plastic, steel, silver, etc. It allows castration of the birds by laparotomy in the last intercostal space, the gonads being collected in the bowl, with a reduction in mortality as a result of haemorrhage, injury to abdominal organs and fragmentation of testicles or ovaries, and is for industrial application in obtaining capons and poulards.
