Device driving compound needles in machines for knitting run-resistant rope. It comprises a single propulsion assembly made up of a horizontal-axle electric motor, bearing two pulleys connected respectively to two horizontal axles to each of which is fitted a cam connected to a corresponding driving rod, according to the vertical alternating movement of a needle holding plate and of a feeder holding plate. By means of a support having a cap, the needle holding plate supports the needles without a latch, to which correspond locking elements associated with an integral upper plate, by means of three guided vertical rods of the lower feeder holding plate.
