The workstation comprises a pedestal (5) and a working surface (6). It has an opening (18) through which the screen (8) of a video monitor (7) is viewed by the operator seated in a chair (3) before a keyboard (9). The surface can be tilted about a horizontal axis (X-X') on which lower and upper parts (5a,5b) of the pedestal are hinged (10). These parts are defined by lateral branches (12,13;14,15) of V shape interconnected near the tops (16,17) to form an overall X shape jointed at its centre. The lower branches (12,13) form a base for the piece of furniture itself, and the upper branches (14,15) one for the working surface.
