PURPOSE: To obtain stability and long-term reliability of orientation of a liquid crystal, to control orientation of a liquid crystal in a desired area into a desired state, and thereby, to obtain a wide visual angle of a liquid crystal display element by using both of rubbing method and ion irradiating method as an orienting method of a liquid crystal when a polyamide is used as an orienting film. CONSTITUTION: After an org. polymer film formed on a substrate is rubbed in a specified direction, the org. polymer film is irradiated with ion beams in vacuum. Or after an org. polymer film is irradiated with ion beams in vacuum, the film is rubbed for orientation treatment. The org. polymer film is a polyamide polymer produced by heat treating a polyamide soln. on the substrate. |
