[Also in Divisions H1 and H2] Lighting apparatus comprises a hollow support strip A adapted to be attached to a ceiling 12 and accommodating conductor bars 14, 15, and a lamp-carrying connection box B which has a narrow stepped head port 17 which enters into strip A and is retained by spring tongues 20, 21 engaging cavities 16 in strip A and which has spring tongues 22, 23 which engage conductors 14, spring tongues 20, 21, 22, 23 being brought into the operative or inoperative positions by cams or eccentrics 27, 30, 28 and 29 on spindle 31, the spring tongues being fastened for the greater part of their lengths to rigid members 33, pivoted at 35 and having a hollow cavity 34 inside while the cams or eccentrics are mounted. Fig. 4 shows a developed view, in fact the spindle 31 is continuous and the cams or eccentrics and spring tongues lie one behind the other. Fig. 4 shows the position when head part 17 has just been inserted into strip A. If spindle 31 is turned through 90‹, Fig. 5 (not shown), spring tongues 20, 21 engage with cavities 16 to retain box B in place, but spring tongues 22, 23 do not yet contact conductors 14. If spindle 31 is turned through a further 90‹, Fig. 6 (not shown), spring tongues 20, 21 further enter cavities 16 and spring tongues 22, 23 contact conductors 14. Conductor bar 15 is an earth conductor which is contacted by spring loaded earth pin 18 as soon as head portion 17 is inserted into strip A and is not dependant on spindle 31 so remains in contact with earth conductor 15 throughout. Conductors 14, 15 are insulated by insulator 13. Strip A is a continuous strip along the ceiling and box B can be slid along to the desired position.</p> |
