FORMING METHOD FOR SLIDING MEMBER OF MAGNETIC TAPE AND INORGANIC COATING FILM

PURPOSE: To obtain a hard coating film and a lightweight sliding member having excellent wear resistance and little friction with a magnetic tape by forming an inorg. coating film on the surface of a plastic base body to constitute a sliding member of a VTR cylinder or the like for a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION: A VTR cylinder has a rotating cylinder 10 and a fixed cylinder 20 coaxially assembled. The rotating cylinder 10 and the fixed cylinder 20 are made of a resin material such as polycarbonate and are formed into hollow cylinders. A hard coating film (inorg. coating film) 30 is formed on the circumference surface of each cylinder. When the VTR is operated, a magnetic tape 40 is wound tilting to the rotating axis. A step is formed on the circumference surface of the fixed cylinder 20 to guide the tilted magnetic tape 40. By this constitution, a lightweight member having higher wear resistance is obtd.
