PURPOSE: To provide a garnet crystal waveguide-type laser which is capable of oscillating laser rays of wavelength 1.6μm, being easily connected to another waveguide-type part, high in output power, excellent in stability of wavelength, long in service life, and capable of serving as a practical light source. CONSTITUTION: A waveguide-type laser is equipped with a core 4 surrounded with clads 2 and 3 lower than the core 4 in refractive index, wherein the core 4 is primarily formed of Y3 Al5 O12 (YAG) or YAG crystal, and a part of yttrium(Y) is replaced with one or more elements selected out of erbium(Er), neodymium(Nd), ytterbium(Yb), and lutetium(Lu) including erbium without fail, and a part of aluminum(Al) is replaced with gallium(Ga). |
