PURPOSE: To easily present translucent colors in an image generation device of a color palette system with a finite number of colors by providing an image data generation section which generates image data of a translucent color pattern by thinning out plural dots based on a dot thinning-out rule. CONSTITUTION: This device has an image pattern memory 1, a mask pattern matrix(mask PM) memory 2, a display control section 3, a frame memory 4, a color palette 5, and a video encoder 6. The image pattern memory 1 stores various kinds of object pattern- and background pattern data having information such as display coordinates, color, luminance and size for each dot. The display control section 3 inputs the mask pattern outputted from the mask PM memory 2 as well as the image pattern data outputted from the image pattern memory 1 to determine whether the input image pattern must be thinned out or not for each dot based on the mask pattern data and, after that, outputs the result to write it to the frame memory 4. |
