PURPOSE: To reduce the ink overlapping bias for every pixel and to ensure high recording quality when the color images are recorded in plural colors of ink and by means of an error propagation processing method. CONSTITUTION: The ink quantity signals Y, M, C and K of yellow, magenta, cyan and black ink are quantized by the quantization circuits 102, 112, 122 and 132 respectively. Then the error signals showing the quantization errors are acquired by the error calculation circuits 103, 113, 123 and 134. These error signals are propagated into the input ink quantity signals by an error propagation processing part via the error buffers 104, 114, 124 and 134, the weighting factor memories 105, 115, 125 and 135, the multipliers 106, 116, 126 and 136, and the addres 101, 111, 121 and 131 respectively. At such error propagation processing part, an equalization circuit 137 calculates the average value of error signals acquired by the error calculation circuits 103, 113 and 123. This average value is added to the black ink quantity signal by an adder 138 before quantization. |
