PURPOSE: To obtain a discriminating equipment of a stain of a printed matter which can discriminate highly accurately even the stain located partially in any one of areas of the printed matter. CONSTITUTION: Image data on a printed matter P are inputted as analog signals to an image input part 1 and an area determining part 2 determines a printed area and a nonprinted area of the printed matter P on the basis of the analog signals inputted. Amplifiers 3-6 amplify the analog signals in the determined areas by amplification factors G1-G4 and A/D conversion parts 7-10 convert the respective outputs of the amplifiers 3-6 into digital signals. Moreover, a selector part 11 selects a prescribed output from the respective outputs of the A/D conversion parts 7-10, feature amount extracting parts 12-14 extract physical feature amounts for the selected output, stain determining parts 15-17 determine a stain by comparing each of the extracted feature amounts with a reference value and an overall determination part 18 compares the results of determination of the stain determining parts 15-17 with one another and outputs any one of the results of determination as the final result of discrimination of the stain on the basis of the results of the comparison. |
