PURPOSE: To easily, naturally and smoothly generate the effects of vibratos and tremolos by constituting the rotation operating section of a wheel so that the section is made rockable in an approximately perpendicular direction to the rotational direction of the wheel and providing a musical sound controlling means which controls musical sounds based on the detection results of a rocking detection means. CONSTITUTION: An operator 7 is provided at the outer peripheral center section of a wheel main body 2. A rocking piece 10 is integrally formed in the lower section of the operator 7. The base section of the piece 10 is fixed to the body 2. The operator 7 is made rockable in the perpendicular direction with respect to the rotational direction centered at the base section as shown by an arrow C. Strain gages 8 are pasted both side faces of the piece 10. When a desired pitch is reached by rotating the body 2 and a vibrato is desired, a player finely rocks the operator 7 in the direction which is perpendicular to the direction of the rotation as shown by the arrow C while holding the rotational position of the wheel by his fingers. The speed and the magnitude of the rocking operations are detected by a strain detection circuit as the resistive changes of the gages 8 provided on the both sides of the piece 10. |
