PURPOSE: To provide automatic adjustment method and device capable of easily and accurately adjust prices collectively paid by a representative. CONSTITUTION: An automatic adjusting device 1 is provided with an optical reader part 2 for optically reading out the contents of a receipt 11 in which information related to the payment of other persons is entered, a recognition part 3 for recognizing the contents of the read receipt 11, a calculation part 4 for calculating the payment of the other persons based on the recognized result, and a communication part 5 for informing the processing of cash corresponding to the calculated payment of the other persons through the on-line N of a banking agent. Thus information related to the payment to other persons is entered in the receipt 11 and read out, the payment to the other persons is calculated and the processing of cash corresponding to the payment to other persons is informed to a representative through the on-line N.
