PURPOSE: To represent a conduit section pattern which looks like solid by printing. CONSTITUTION: A conduit F is cut with a cutting surface J to define a three- dimensional geometric model for a conduit groove G. A light source L and a view point E are defined at specific positions and rendering for the inside of the conduit groove G is performed, The tilt angle of a normal vector (n) is uniformly distributed in the length direction of the conduit groove G and monotonously varies at a right angle to it as shown by transverse sections C1-C3. Therefore, when the conduit groove G is projected in two dimensions from the view point E, an elliptic conduit section pattern is generated which has shading information that monotonously decreases in lightness from the center part to the outline part about the minor-axis direction and has a nearly constant lightness distribution in the major-axis direction.
