PURPOSE: To effectively detect sitting in a sitting detector using a sitting detecting system (electrostatic capacity type sitting sensor) in such a manner that a physical value (electrostatic capacity) to be detected and its detected output have nonlinear relation (exponential functional relation). CONSTITUTION: Detection output correcting means 3 inputting the detection output 2a of a sitting detecting system (electrostatic capacity type sitting sensor) 2 to correct the detection output 2a so that a physical value (electrostatic capacity) to be detected and correction output 3a have a linear relation is provided. The discriminated threshold value setting means 6 of sitting discriminating means 4 sets the level higher by a fixed valueαamount than the correction output 5a at the time of leaving a seat at the sitting discriminating threshold value TH. Comparison discriminating means 7 outputs a sitting detection signal 4a if the output 3a is the value TH or more.
