<p>A magnetic recording medium prepared by forming a magnetic layer comprising metallic magnetic material on the surface of a nonmagnetic support, the magnetic layer being coated with a protective layer while the rear of the support being coated with a backcoating layer. The protective layer is a thin film mainly comprising carbon and containing 5-20 atomic % hydrogen, and so is the backcoating layer. As a result, this recording medium combines excellent sliding characteristics with durability.</p> |
