The present invention provides for an improved rotating mechanical, or rotational, ablation device wherein one or more diamond plated burrs are attached to a drive shaft (40) which rotates at high speed driven by an advancer/turbine assembly (34). The drive shaft (40) is provided with a quick connection/disconnection feature allowing for the easy removal of the burr/drive shaft assembly portion of the device from the advancer turbine assembly (34) portion of the device.
