Fibre=optic display unit

The fibre optical display unit has a bundle of optical fibres (12,14) that are coupled to a light source at one end and are set into a display panel (20) at the other end. The receiving holes are 4 mm deep and the panel 8 mm thick approximately. The panel is produced of a bulk material with distributed particles (32) that diffract and absorb light. The net effect is to cause the light from the conductors to spread with a horn shaped profile (38).
