An electric plug-in connector consists mainly of an insulating housing (1) with a chamber for receiving plug-in contact elements (3), a sealing element (5) fixed in the plug-in area of the insulating housing and a locking element (16) movably held in the plug-in area between an unlocking and a locking position. In order to obtain a plug-in connector whose locking element may only be placed in its locking position by a series of intentional movements, the locking element is substantially designed as a frame and several locking pins (8) shaped on the locking element project into the frame running transversely to the plugging direction. In addition, the locking element (16) is held by snap-on elements in the plug-in area so that it may be moved transversely to the plugging direction from its unlocking position to its locking position, in which the locking pins snap into openings arranged in the walls of the chambers and enter the chambers within which they come to bear directly on shoulder-like areas of the plug-in contact elements (3) inserted into the chambers (2), locking the connector.
