The device secures a plug connection (11). The latter has a plug (14) and a counter plug (16) to be coupled to it. The securing device (12) can change from a release position to a locked position. In the release position, the plug connector (11) can be combined or disconnected. In the locked position, when the plugs (14,16) are combined they can not be pulled apart. The securing device (12) has a lock (32) which secures the combined plug connector (11), at least indirectly. The securing device (12) may form a part of an electric drive lock for a vehicle. In the locked position, the securing device (12) may at least partly surround the joined plug connection (11) and may be anchored to a carrier plate (17) fixed in the vehicle.
