The proposal is for an air filter, especially for cleaning combustion air for internal combustion engines. It consists of a substantially cylindrical housing (10) having a raw air inlet (11) and a pure air outlet (12). The pure air outlet is fitted substantially concentrically on a face of the cylindrical housing. The raw air inlet is fitted on the surface of the housing jacket, and an essentially metal-free filter element is secured in the housing. The housing aperture is fitted with adaptive systems (18) having an integrated dirt extractor (40-45).
