PURPOSE:To obtain a battery having small size and good charge-discharge performance by using a specified amorphous ternary oxide as a positive active material, lithium or lithium alloy as a negative active material, and a substance movable between both active materials for conducting electrochemical reaction as an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:Amorphous powder of ternal oxide comprising LiVO3, P2O5 obtained by a water quenching process is rolled together with a conductive material and a binder to form a positive mix pellet 6. The composition of this material is (LiVO3)1-x((P2O5)X, (0<=x<=0.25). A metallic lithium negative electrode 4 is pressed against a stainless steel sealing plate 1, and the sealing plate 1 is fitted to the recess of a gasket 2, then a separator 5 and the pellet 6 are stacked thereon. An electrolyte prepared by dissolving 1N LiClO4 in an equal volume mixture solvent of propylene carbonate and 2-dimethoxyethane is impregnated, then a stainless steel positive case 3 is fitted to the sealing plate 1 through the gasket 2. A small coin type lithium battery having large reversible capacity and large energy density is obtained. |
