Coffin

The coffin has an upper section (1) which is joined to a lower section (2). The edge of the top section matches a location in the bottom section and the two parts are held together by wooden screws. The upper and lower sections are made from a pressed mass of natural fibres which are impregnated with a binding medium. Recessed handle areas (11) are formed in the sides and both the inside and the outside of the coffin are covered with a natural fibre sheet. To strengthen the bottom section, the floor is formed with a wave shaped profile running longitudinally. Cross beams are also formed between each wave of the profile. Around the bottom edge is a lip to facilitate carrying the coffin in narrow spaces.
