The chip card has a contact block (10, 8) for coupling a microprocessor IC with a terminal device via a number of terminal contacts (2), providing a galvanic coupling or a contact-free coupling device, provided by a second IC. Both the ICs are encased so that they are protected from mechanical damage, with a sensor responsive to a given physical parameter, e.g. pressure or an applied electrical field, to switch the microprocessor IC to the required coupling. Pref. the ICs are contained in a recess (12) provided on the underside of the contact block. |
