The body comprises two hinged parts (3, 2) which are closed by clips (2A-2D) shared between the two halves. The cables enter through openings (11-14) in the body (2) and are anchored by collars, support elements (6A-6D) and reinforced tubular structures (7A, 7B). The branch fibres are anchored by a flat piece (25) of foam under which the spliced branches are placed. These are alongside the path for the cable passing through the connector. The cables may alternatively be wound around storage drums (4A, 4B) and wound off so that the spliced junctions meet in grooves between strips (5A) in a fixing element (5).
