In a door-frame assembly in which the frame 1 e.g. of metal or plastics material has a limited load-carrying ability and includes a hinge 6, means such as a metallic reinforcement 2 which may be localised at the hinge or extend the length of the stile, are provided to transfer the weight of the door, secured to a plate of the hinge, to a wall, as by the screw 3 passing through the reinforcement 2 into the wall. The wings of hinges 6 preferably have upwardly and downwardly extending portions or pegs, respectively, the wing in the frame having the downwardly extending portion located in the door frame section so that the weight of the door retains the hinge in the frame. In an alternative arrangement the hinge wing 6 is secured to the frame section 1 by a screw extending through the section and the metal reinforcement 2 and the screw may be screwed into a metal or plastic plug (11 Fig. 3 not shown) secured in the wall. In another alternative Fig. 5 the frame, member built into a wall clamps the hinge wing 16 between itself and the wall, the wing having a flange 18 .to secure it in the wall. |
