Spray dried detergent beads, derived from aqueous sprayable compositions comprise: (a) 30 to 50% by weight of a linear alkyl benzene sodium sulphonate in which the alkyl radical contains from 8 to 18 carbons; (b) 5 to 15% by weight of alkali metal polyphosphate; (c) balance of sodium sulphate and moisture, the moisture constituting from 1.5 to 3.5% by weight. Suitable polyphosphates include sodium hexametaphosphate, tetrasodium pyrophosphate and pentasodium and pentapotassium triphosphates. The commercially available material known as sodium tripolyphosphate is preferred. Other additives include, for example, sodium silicate, sodium chloride, lauric ethanolamide, lauric isopropanolamide, brighteners and anti-redeposition agents. |
