PURPOSE: To enable checking of a position without relying on a seeing through image with a contrast device in the separation of an indwelling member in vivo from an electrode. CONSTITUTION: A high frequency power source unit for retaining an indwelling member in vivo is constituted of a switch circuit 10, an input/output circuit 118 a high frequency signal generation circuit 12 and a checking circuit 13. When a high frequency voltage for measurement is supplied between a guide wire 1 and a body earth from a high frequency output circuit 12c, a voltage is detected corresponding to an impedance of a circuit made up of a lead, a guide wire 1, an organism and a body earth to perform a comparison to determine whether a voltage detected is within a range of a set voltage with a discrimination circuit 13b. The results of the comparison are reported outside by a display circuit 13c and a buzzer circuit 13d thereby facilitating the judging of the position of the tip of the guide wire 1 with respect to the tip of a catheter.
