<p>PURPOSE: To provide a valve timing regulating device which can improve the control accuracy and the stability of the valve timing along the wide speed range of an internal combustion engine, by utilizing the structure to detect the rotating position of a cam shaft corresponding to the rotational variation of the cam shaft resulting from the position of the cam ridge. CONSTITUTION: A cam position sensor 44 furnishes a pulser 44a forming projections PA1, PA2, PA3, and PA4 in different intervals; and a pulse pickup 44b to detect the passings of the projections of the pulser 44a. The pulse pickup 44 detects the projections by the pulse pickup 44b according to the rotation of the pulser 44a following the rotation of a cam shaft 5a, and generates cam position detecting signals. The projections PA2, PA3, PA1, and PA4 of the pulser 44a are arranged to be detected by the pulse pickup 44b, at the positions where the ascending sides of the cam ridges #2A, #3A, #1A, and #4A of the cam shaft 5a operate to the valve tappet 100a at the cam shaft 5a side.</p> |
