PURPOSE: To obtain a porous plug which has excellent durability and does not require base metal removal (the base removal, if needed, is completed in a short time) by providing the porous plug with gas permeability and corrosion resistance and in addition, imparting excellent molten steel penetration resistance as well to the plug. CONSTITUTION: This process for producing porous refractories for the gas blowing porous plug comprises subjecting a compd. contg. 75 to 98wt.% alumina, 1 to 15wt.% zircon and 1 to 10wt.% superfine powder of Al2 O3 .MgO spinel in which a grain size of <=75μm occupies >=95wt.% to kneading and molding, then to calcining. |
