PURPOSE: To prevent a coil from loosening even if a strip is broken while a coil rolling a large diameter coil by changing to either a tension reference circuit or a speed control circuit and by connecting to a motor driving device for a tension reel when a strip breakage detecting signal is output. CONSTITUTION: A switch 15 selects a tension control during a usual driving and a coil in a tension reel 1 is coiled by a constant tension caused by an output of a tension reference circuit 9. When a strip is broken between a rolling stand 2 and the tension reel 1, the switch 15 is changed to a speed control by an output signal of a breakage detecting circuit 4 and the tension reel 1 is controlled by a speed control circuit 13. That is to say, the speed control circuit 13 decreases a speed command gradually to a zero speed. When the output of a speed detecting circuit 12 is not more than a set value, a brake control circuit 14 for the tension reel outputs a brake closing command to completely stop the tension reel 1. |
