摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To provide an electromagnetic brake to reduce weight and size by a method wherein a gap adjusting device comprises a slide resistance member, a return spring, and a holding member, and a given gap is provided between a slide resistance member contact surface and a brake disc non-brake surface. CONSTITUTION: When a field core 3 is in a non-exciting state, an armature 10 is pressed toward a pressurized plate 7 side through the force of a brake spring, and a disc brake 12 is braked. When a field core 3 is in an exciting state, the armature 10 is magnetically attracted to the field core 3 against the brake spring. The brake disc 12 is moved to the armature 10 side through the force of the return spring 21 of a gap adjusting device 16, a gap S is produced between a friction plate 11 and the pressurized plate 7, and the brake disc 12 is rotated. When a friction plate 11 is worn due to repetition of the operation, the gap S is increased but a support point to the hub 14 of the brake disc 12 is moved to the pressurized plate 7 side by an amount equivalent to the increased gap and the gap S is automatically adjusted. This constitution reduces the inside diameters of a field core and the armature.</p>
