PURPOSE: To obtain stable engine rotation by controlling the operational status of an engine by using combustion rate up to a predetermined crank angle at the top dead center or near the top dead center by calculating the combustion rate based on combustion chamber pressure data. CONSTITUTION: A piston 7 is mounted via a connecting rod 8 in a cylinder body 3. The connecting rod 8 is connected to a crank shaft 9. A ring gear 10 is mounted on the crank shaft 9. A crank angle sensor 11 is provided to measure a crank angle and engine speed by detecting the rotating position of the ring gear 10. Combustion pressure at the crank angle is detected to calculate combustion rate up to a predetermined crank angle at the top dead center or near the top dead center based on these combustion chamber pressure data. the operational status of an engine is controlled based on the calculated combustion rate. Thus, energy owing to combustion is efficiently produced to obtain output to input with high efficiency. |
