<p>PURPOSE: To prevent damage of actuating members and provide longer life thereof used for fluid containing a lot of solid material such as earth and sand because conventional water hammer shock absorbers used are easily damaged and its function is deprived in a short time. CONSTITUTION: A water hammer shock absorber for fluid containing solid material is composed of a plurality of through holes 11, which are provided far apart from the unevenly distributed solid material S in the lower half of a main pipe 1 by drilling the holes only in the upper half of the main pipe 1, an elastic body 2, which is provided along the through holes 11 and makes an elastic deformation when water hammer takes place, an airtight chamber 3, which is fixed to the main pipe 1 enclosing the elastic body 2 and dissipates the water hammer energy by reducing the volume by means of the deformation of the elastic body 2, and an internal pressure enclosing means 4, which is communicated with the airtight chamber 3 in a freely openable and closable manner to provide the airtight chamber 3 with a fixed internal pressure.</p> |
