PURPOSE: To give a clearance between a mask and the mouth when the mask is worn by providing the center of a protection face covering a wearer's mouth with a perpendicular continuous unstretchable vertical core. CONSTITUTION: A vertical core 2 which continues form the upper end to the lower end of a mask 1 is formed in the center of the protection face 1a of the mask 1 which covers a wearer's nose and mouth. The vertical core 2 is unstretchable and does not change its length and width even if the mask is stretched right and left to wear it. For instance, the mask has a double-layer sttructure including a layer made of cotton, cellulosic fibers, an done containing plastic fibers such as polyethylene. The vertical core 2 is formed by compressing the center of the mask 1 while heating it to a temperature higher than the melting point of the plastic fibers, and melting and solidifying the plastic fibers. Therefore, the plastic fiber layer becomes thinner only in the part of the vertical core. |
