PURPOSE: To produce a steel sheet excellent in side wall breaking resistance and suitable for a DTR can by specifying the steel compsn. composed of C, Si, Mn, P, S, Al, N, O and Fe and its structure formed of ferritic phases and cementite. CONSTITUTION: This steel has a compsn. contg., by weight, >0.02 to 0.06% C, <=0.03% Si, 0.5 to 1.2%, preferably 0.3 to 1.2% Mn, <=0.03% P, <=0.008% S, 0.02 to 0.1% Sol.Al, 0.002 to 0.007% N, <=0.005%, preferably <=0.0025% T-O, log[Mn][S]<=-2.22, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The structure of this steel is substantially formed of ferritic phases and finely dispersed cementite. Moreover, this cementite is dispersedly precipitated into the crystalline grains of the ferritic phases by the average intergranular distance MFP of <=2μm, and the length of the community of cementite Lc is regulated to <=10μm.
