PURPOSE: To obtain a powdery coating material having great impact resistance to shocks from the outside and provide a method for producing the powdery coating material. CONSTITUTION: This shock absorbing powdery coating contains hollow beads 14 in a powdery resin coating material. The shock absorbing coating material is obtained by mixing the hollow beads (preferably made of glass) 14 in the powdery coating material and then coating a material to be coated with the mixed powdery coating material according to a fluidized dipping method. Thereby, the impact resistance is raised. The impact resistance can further be raised by mixing <=5wt.%, preferably <=2wt.% hollow beads therein. The gloss is reduced, i.e., matte effects are obtained by mixing the hollow beads in the powdery coating material. The regulation of the average grain diameter of the hollow beads to about 70μm provides advantages such as neither initiation of cracks after coating nor development of defects such as pinholes in a film after the coating.
