PURPOSE: To obtain the subject readily handleable composition, excellent in heat and chemical resistances, etc., and useful as a coating material vehicle or for coating, bonding, etc., of ceramics by blending a trifunctional epoxy compound having a specific structure with an N-substituted melamine in a specific proportion. CONSTITUTION: This composition contains (A) one or more trifunctional epoxy compounds having a molecular structure in which the positions of three epoxy groups are a symmetric structure [especially preferably tris(hydroxyphenyl) methane triglycidyl ether, triglycidyl isocyanurate, tris-(α-methyl)glycidyl isocyanurate or tris-(β-methyl)glycidyl isocyanurate] and (B) one or more of N-substituted melamines of formula I [R<1> to R<6> are each independently H, a 1-18C alkyl, a 1-18C hydroxyalkyl, a 4-8C cycloalkyl, etc.; X is a group of formula II]. The amount of the active hydrogens of a primary and/or a secondary amino group in the component (B) is 0.1-0.7 equiv. based on 1 equiv. epoxy group in the component (A).
