PURPOSE: To produce a steel sheet in which a side wall breaking phenomenon actualized at the time of tension applying deep drawing for a can body executed in a can making process is hard to generate as for a steel sheet for a can suitable for the application to DTR(Drawand Thin Redraw) can making. CONSTITUTION: This steel sheet excellent in side wall breaking resistance and suitable for a DTR can is the one having a steel compsn. contg., by weight, >0.02 to 0.1% C, <=0.03% Si, 0.3 to 1.2% Mn, <=0.03% P, <=0.008% S, 0.02 to 0.1% Sol.Al, 0.002 to 0.007% N, <=0.005% Total-O, log[Mn][S]<=-2.22, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and having a structure substantially formed of ferritic phases and cementite. The length of the community of cementite Lc is preferably regulated to <=10μm.
